We are so thrilled to have found Tom Mell at Southern Pride and Stain to repair and stain our backyard fence! After hiring a contractor who did subpar (and even sloppy) work building our fence, we were so blessed that Tom came to our rescue. He was on time (to the minute) for both the estimate and the work date. When doing the estimate, he actually did a few quick repairs on the spot! He took detailed notes during the estimate and was knowledgeable and well prepared on the day of work (we didn’t have to remind him of our needs or repeat anything we had previously discussed).
Before staining, Tom fixed several mistakes, shortcuts, problems, etc. our contractor had made (some big and some small) and took preventive steps for multiple areas on our fence that were going to be trouble after more weathering. Tom got zero paint/stain on our house or our driveway, and the staining on the fence turned out beautiful! He cleaned up completely and even blew off our driveway (indeed leaving it better than he found it). Tom gave us a very fair price, was punctual, courteous, thorough, and highly skilled. We found so much value in his services that we are bringing him back next spring to paint our front picket fence. If only all contractors had Tom’s character. . .

Preparing a home to sell includes making sound choices on where to spend those hard earned dollars. Having the deck rejuvenated was a great choice. Tom offered sound advice and yes it cost a little bit more but, he was right, sold.

Contractors with integrity, skill, and extreme regard for the customer’s experience are difficult to find in the CSRA. When we finally made the choice to have someone take care of the problems with our deck, we really weren’t sure where to turn. However, a referral to Tom and his company turned out to be one of the two best contractor choices we’ve made.
Unusual events created circumstances where finishing this project was not going to be easy or predictable. But in spite of everything, Tom never missed a beat when regularly communicating with us or when making sure that the project completed, and completed with extreme attention to detail and finished look.
We have the highest regard for Tom and Southern Pride Stain and every time we sit out on our new Trex deck, we will recall the energy and effort that was expended, in the midst of difficult circumstances, to ensure that our expectations were exceeded.
Oh, and his prices were more than reasonable!

Tom Mell’s Southern Pride Stain team, including Mark and Porter, did an excellent job cleaning and staining our two-year old wooden fence. Tom’s assistants are well-trained, courteous, thorough and careful in their work. Flower beds close to the fence are protected during the process. Mr Mell is personally involved in the work, and makes pre -staining carpentry repairs if needed. Fair pricing and pride of workmanship displayed. Highly recommended.
